Written final exam (100%) that includes:

    • Multiple choice questions
    • Analysis of roles and stakeholders in a brief case study
    • Comparative evaluation of theory data

After the end of the course students will be able to:

  • utilize the information they receive from the patient and his family environment,
  • organize a nursing care plan,
  • implement interventions for the implementation of the care plan,
  • evaluate the results of nursing care, in patients with diseases of the nervous system.

The Aim of the course is for students to acquire knowledge and skills to plan, provide and evaluate nursing care for patients with neurological diseases, by actively participating in the health treatment team.

 

Course Outline

 

SYLLABUS

  • Neurological disease: definition, epidemiology, etiology, clinical manifestations and treatment.
  • Nursing evaluation of patients with neurological disorders – nursing history, examinations, clinical examination methods per disease, nursing procedures and nursing responsibilities during clinical and laboratory examinations.
  • Nursing Practices in the major and most common neurological diseases.
  • Most common nursing diagnoses.
  • Care of patients with acute cerebral disorders (intracranial pressure, cerebral edema, traumatic brain injury, CNS infectious diseases, brain tumors, hydrocephalus).
  • Care of patients with Vascular Brain Disorders.
  • Care of patients with Chronic Neurological Disorders (Alzheimer’s Disease, Other Diseases, Parkinson’s Disease, Gravis Myasthenia, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
  • Care of patients with spinal cord injuries (Spinal tumors, spinal cord injuries).
  • Preparing the patient to leave the hospital and continuing care.
