Postgraduate Program of Studies in Intensive Care Units- Cardiology, Medical and Nursing Care

 

The Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the Department of Nursing of the University of West Attica, organizes and operates from the academic year 2004 – 2005 Postgraduate Program of Studies, according to the provisions of articles 10 to 12 of Law 2083/1992.

From the academic year 2015 it operates with reformed curriculum with title: “Intensive Care Units – Emergency Nursing”, government gazette leaflet 1414/8 July 2015, replacing the Ministerial Decision 13843 / Α7 / 18-02-2005 (government gazette 222 Β) according to the provisions of this decision and the provisions of Law 3685/2008.

From the academic year 2018-2019 is re-titled: “Intensive Care Units – Cardiology, Medical and Nursing Care”, number 955 / 2-8-2018, government gazette leaflet 4112/20th September 2018.

The administrative support of the program provided by the article 11 paragraph 1b of Law 2083/1992 has the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

 

Object – Purpose

 

Object of this Postgraduate Program of Studies is the education, the advancement of knowledge and research in intensive care units – cardiology, medicine and nursing care.

In particular, the purpose of this Postgraduate Program of Studies is to educate and specialize new scientists in the wide and expanding field of the sciences of Medicine and Nursing.

 

Graduates of the PMS they will be able to:

 

  1. To staff Intensive Care Units.
  2. To staff Cardiology Units and Cardiology Departments in the Public and Private Health Sector.
  3. To work in positions requiring a high level of knowledge and skills of the subject.
  4.     Prepare for postgraduate doctoral studies.
  5. To specialize in the scientific subject

 

The Postgraduate Program leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization in “Intensive Care – Cardiology, Medicine and Nursing Care”.

At the Postgraduate Program of Studies are admitted, if they fulfill the necessary conditions for the successful attendance of the courses, graduates of Schools of Medicine, Departments of Nursing from Universities and Technological Educational Institutions of Greece and abroad, as well as other health professions (midwives, physiotherapists, etc).
