  • Know (understand) and describe the disorders of the normal functioning of the human body affected by the action of a causative agent
  • Know (understand) and describe the important pathophysiological mechanisms that initiate the disease’s symptoms
  • Understand the pathological changes in the functioning of the human body
  • Understand and interpret the underlying mechanisms of various diseases of the human body, which lead to the clinical and laboratory manifestations of a disease in everyday clinical practice

The aim of the course is for students to understand and describe the human body dysfunctions and disorders affected by causal factor, the underlying mechanisms of both diseases and clinical signs, resulting in the application of an appropriate care in daily clinical practice.

SYLLABUS

THEORY

The course is based on the description of the major disorders of physiological function and of their consequences on human body. In particular it includes:

  • Disorders in metabolism: amino acids, fat-lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, trace elements, metals and purines
  • Disorders in liquids and electrolytes of the human organism
  • Pathological physiology of the most important symptoms
  • Pathological physiology in infectious diseases
  • Pathological physiology of neoplasms
  • Pathological physiology of the immune system
  • Pathological physiology of the hematopoietic system
  • Pathological physiology of the circulatory system
  • Pathological physiology of the respiratory system
  • Pathological physiology of the digestive system
  • Pathological physiology of the urinary tract
  • Pathological physiology of the nervous system
  • Pathological physiology of the endocrine glands
  • Pathological skin physiology
  • Pathological physiology of the reproductive system of both men and women.
