The evaluation is conducted in Greek

Written final exam which includes (100%):

    • Multiple choice test
    • Short case study which analyze stakeholders’ roles
    • Comparative evaluation of theory elements

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Understand the meaning and content of school nursing and the school nurse’s role.
  • Evaluate the health and safety of the physical and social environment of the school.
  • Acquire skills in educating the target population.
  • Analyze the nursing care provided at school in the context of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. 
  • Acquire skills in the management and dealing with acute problems in the school environment.
  •  Acquire skills in the management of chronic health problems in the school environment.
  • Contribute to the connection of the school population with the family and the community.
  • Distinguish the different roles and functions of school nurses.

The aim of the course is for students to understand the role of the School Nurse in the education of the target populations (students, school staff and parents), for the adoption of healthy attitudes and behaviors as well as in the management of health problems and the improvement of the natural and social environment.

  • Models and theories in school nursing.
  • The role of school nurse, skills and competence in school nursing.
  • Creating, managing and updating the students’ health records.
  • Development stage and educational process.
  • Implementation of the nursing process in school nursing
  • Health education, health promotion and disease prevention in the school environment at the three levels of preventive care.
  • School nurse and environment.
  • School nurse and child (acute problem, first aid, eating disorders, vaccinations).
  • School nurse and child (chronic illness, allergy, psycho-emotional disorders, cognitive disorders, child with special skills).
  • School nurse and family.
