STUDENT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Writing an academic paper (Literature review, Research paper).

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide the appropriate guidance to student nurses for writing an academic paper, following the basic principles of scientific writing. Furthermore, the course aims at assisting the nurse students, to develop critical thinking, creativity and synthesis, and demonstrate originality, skillfulness in research design and methodology, by presenting their final academic paper.

After the end of the course the students will be able to:

  • Understand the scientific work needed to systematically report, write and present the findings of their research and demonstrate evidence of the new knowledge raised.
  • Follow basic guidelines for selecting a topic under study. 
  • Understand that formulation of the research question is one of the most critical issues in scientific research.
  • Depending on the nature of the research questions and the research method to distinguish the following types of research: quantitative research – qualitative research – literature review (systematic) – mixed research methodology.
  • Display an in-depth presentation of the methodology followed during the research.
  • Provide information on both the sample and the material used as well as the process of data collection.
  • Properly complete the literature search and indexing.
  • Follow the principles of formatting an academic paper.
