The aim of the course is the contact of students with the clinical images of neurological – psychiatric diseases. Awareness of students in their communication with specific patients. The diagnosis, treatment and treatment of neurological – psychiatric diseases by the treatment team and the role of the nurse in it.

THEORY
- Introduction – basic psychiatric concepts
- History of Psychiatry
- Mental Health, Mental Illness, Theories of Personality Conception and their importance for the interpretation of mental disorders and human psychopathology.
- Mental characteristics – psychodynamic interpretation of disorders in relation to behavioral motives, EGO defense mechanisms, psychoanalytic theory of intrusions, individual and environmental factors.
Psychopathological psychiatric conditions/representations
- Neurosis – Psychosis – Emotional disturbances – Delirium.
- Psychosomatic diseases – Eating disorders.
- Personality disorders. Limitations. Sexual disorders.
- Mental retardation and psychiatric disorders.
- Substance Abuse disorders (biological – psychodynamic interpretations related to the diversity of patient’s psychopathology and types and phases of addictive behavior – addiction and mental disorders – “dual diagnosis”).
- Geriatric psychiatry
- Mental disorders during pregnancy and menstrual periods.
- Psychology of physically ill patient.
