LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with Informatics and Technology in Health Sciences, their application in the field of health and in particular in Nursing. In this context, office automation tools, basic concepts of network and internet as well as online bibliographic databases are widely used to retrieve scientific medical knowledge. Reference is made to health information systems, Nursing information systems and standards for coding and exchanging medical information of these systems.

 

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Locate health information on the internet
  • Be aware of health information systems
  • Inform the patient’s electronic file

The aim of the course is for students to understand the concept of computer science. The acquisition of basic knowledge in informatics and computers. The acquisition of knowledge in nursing informatics. To acquire skills in using Office application programs and finding health information on the world wide web.

Part 1. Introduction to Information Technology and Computers

  • Nature, Transmission, Storage and Processing of Information with the Use of Computers.
  • The Parts, Components and the Structure of Computers. Modern Computer Operating Systems.
  • Learning of writing and oral presentation of scientific papers
  • Data Management with Computing Sheets,
  • Databases and Modern Relational Database Systems. Computer Networks, Local Networks, Wide Area Networks, the Internet and the World Wide Web. Internet addresses.

Part 2. Nursing Informatics

  • Digital Clinical Data. Data from Imaging Systems and Biological Signs.
  • The Need for Dissemination of Nursing Data between Nursing Centers that are geographically remoted. Remote Host Network Computing Interface of remoted Nursing Centers The Standard Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine – DICOM for the Networking of Digital Medical and Nursing Data.
