    • Multiple choice test
    • Open-ended questions
    • Short answer questions
    • Critical thinking Questions

Oral examination in clinical practice (50%)

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is for the students to understand the meaning of Nursing care and to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills related to the provision of care in accordance with the basic principles of nursing. Also, the familiarization of students with the basic principles of nursing care for the treatment of patients with pathological and surgical problems.

After the end of the training in the course the students will be able to:

  • To assess the basic needs and problems of patients.
  • To plan and implement personalized nursing care, as well as to evaluate the results of care.
  • To apply therapeutic, supportive and preventive nursing interventions to the adult patient.
  • To describe the patient’s treatment needs at all levels of Health Care.
  • To apply protective mechanisms of the body during the practice of nursing.

Course Outline

 

SYLLABUS

THEORY

  • Nursing Research, Basic Concepts and Methodological Approaches.
  • Maintaining skin integrity – Basic positions of bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Treatment of pressure ulcers.
  • Maintaining and promoting the excretory function of the urinary system and the excretory function of the intestine.
  • Preoperative patient care.
  • Postoperative monitoring and patient care. Application of heat and cold therapy.
  • End of life care

LABORATORY

  • Basic positions of bedridden patients – Prevention of pressure ulcers-Techniques-Handling-Suitable materials.
  • Treatment of pressure ulcers: Process and Materials of changing the wound dressings-Types and use of dressings.
  • Rectal catheterization – Placing rectal catheter (gas tube) and suppository.
  • Preoperative patient preparation (surgical site preparation – Patient clothing – Transport from the bed to the stretcher and vice versa – Preparing a surgical bed).
  • Post-operative care and patient follow-up (Transfer from the operating room – Surgical Wound Care – move patient after the operation). Application of heat and cold therapy.
