The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of clinical pathological nursing for planning nursing care for patients treated in medical wards or in departments that belong to the medical sector of tertiary hospitals.
Course Outline
SYLLABUS
Theoretical part
This course, which is provided as a single course with ‘Pathological Nursing’ of the 5th semester, is based on the Nursing Process and includes nursing care plans for most common diseases of the human body. In particular it includes:
- Brief Description of the disease
- Nursing Diagnoses per disease
- Design of nursing interventions for each nursing diagnosis
- Expected results after each nursing intervention
- Nursing practices and nursing responsibility in pharmacotherapy per disease and per drug
- Nursing practices and responsibilities therapeutic palliative and invasive procedures per disease
- Preparing the patient for hospital discharge and continuing the nursing care.
In particular, the course refers to the Nursing Treatment of Patients in the main and most common diseases of all systems of the human body and focuses on the Nursing Care Plans as follows:
- Hematological Diseases
- Endocrine Diseases
- Immune Diseases
- Diseases of the Respiratory System
- Diseases of the Cardiovascular System
- Diseases of the Gastrointestinal System, Liver and Gallbladder
- Diseases of the Urinary System
- Neurological Diseases
- Musculoskeletal and Rheumatic Diseases
- Diseases of the Head, Cervix and Sensory Organs
Laboratory part
The laboratory includes clinical practice of students in medical wards or clinics of the Medical Sector of tertiary hospitals in Attica. In particular, it includes individualized nursing care of hospitalized patients in medical departments by developing comprehensive nursing care plan in clinical area.
