Education: Despoina Koumpagioti is a graduate of the Department of Nursing at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Clinical Nursing, specializing in Pediatric Nursing, from the same university. In addition, she has a specialty title in the nursing care of children with respiratory and allergic diseases.
Research interests: Pediatric Nursing, chronic illness management in children, care of children with respiratory and allergic diseases, patient and family-centered care, technology use in Pediatric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing education – simulation training.
Academic appointments: She has served as a scientific associate in the Department of Nursing at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, possessing extensive teaching experience, at both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, in the field of Pediatric Nursing. Since April 2025, she has held the position of Assistant Professor of Pediatric Nursing in the Department of Nursing at the University of West Attica.
Professional experience: She has worked as a registered nurse (2007–2025) at the “P. & A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital and as a Deputy Coordinator of Pediatric Nursing Specialty Training for the 1st Health District of Attica, serving from 2021 to 2024.
